Brass vs PPR vs CPVC Pipe Fittings: A B2B Buyer’s Selection Guide

Forged brass Y-strainer plumbing fitting

Material selection is one of the fastest ways to improve a plumbing enquiry. Brass, PPR and CPVC fittings can all be appropriate, but they must be evaluated as part of a complete pipe system, not as interchangeable loose parts.

Brass fittings: threaded serviceability

Brass is common for threaded adapters, valves and serviceable connections. Buyers should confirm alloy, thread form, sealing method and suitability for the intended medium. Typical examples include a brass threaded union, hex nipple and Y-strainer.

PPR: fusion-connected distribution

PPR systems rely on matching pipe class, fusion practice and fitting dimensions. A PPR brass-core ball valve should be sampled with the proposed pipe and welding tool.

CPVC: system compatibility first

For CPVC, select the exact pipe series, adhesive method and operating conditions. A CPVC 45-degree elbow cannot be specified without the matching system data.

Buyer checklist

  • Match material to fluid, temperature and pressure.
  • Confirm connection standard and complete system compatibility.
  • Approve working samples and documents for the exact model.
  • Record carton, marking and inspection requirements.
